What about an international chain hospital?

Tags:

Hi! I have a doctor friend who suggests that an international chain hospital where world-level doctors are invited to diagnose regularly, conditions are the most comfortable and most patient friendly, mainland, Hong Kong and overseas quality hospitals can be reached to the request of the patients be established in Zhuhai. He is a very famous doctor working in both Zhuhai and Macao, and he is working with some of the counterparts on this matter. Can anyone give me ideas about the possibilities or impossibilities?

Never heard of one... but wish there were one!

There are already some

There are already some private hospitals operating by foreign investors in China. Some are catering to Hong Kong residence as of private nature and the fees are substantially lower than private hospitals in HK. Also, the cost of running a hospital is prohibitive by most, not to mention the political hurdles. I suggest a chain of international clinics, it is all possible, the bottom line is "Show me the $$$$". Sad to say, but the Norman Bethune spirit is not happening today.

A Western standard hospital

A Western standard hospital that would be great !
I dread each time my children get sick & have to see a doctor.

The biggest downfall here is the health system. Any improvement would be great !

A western standard health

A western standard health care system is far too expensive, it is not realistic to see this happening in China. Perhaps, a private health clinic for westerners is an idea. Again, who is paying for this?

Something that works quite

Something that works quite well is the Hope Medical Centre in Macau. Apart from being relatively easy to get to and access(see note),it provides a reasonable model for NPO-GOV-Private funding and staffing.

Note: 5 min ferry ride via WanZai + imigration procedures (or approx. 1 h through Imigration at Gongbei) COMPARED WITH 1h 10 min to HK + imigration procedures; or 2+ h to Guangzhou

Bear in mind that the Hope

Bear in mind that the Hope clinic model might not work in China since the Hope clinic doctors are all Mormon missionaries. For those who are interested, the American doctors only work monday through Thursday, last I heard. I don't think they are open on the weekends at all. I wish that there was some place decent to go here on the mainland because I don't trust Chinese doctors any farther than I could throw one.

Hello!

Hello! Please...everyone...I am one of the docs at Hope clinic - we are NOT MORMON MISSIONARIES! This is the second time I've read on this site that we are Mormons. We are not.

Hope clinic was founded by Christian (Southern Baptist if you are interested) missionaries over 27 years ago. Indeed all the physicians are Christians, including the Chinese staff and resident doctors that we teach. We will very soon be opening a new facility on Taipa as well as a new website (our current one is www.hopemacau.com and is occasionally filtered in Zhuhai) that will enable us to better communicate with you and serve the residents and expats in Macau and the Pearl River Delta. Stay tuned to this site and elsewhere for news about the new clinic.

Our new facility will be appointments only, rather than walk-in (as is the current facility). Rregarding our hours, there should be a Western physician at either site, every day from 10 to 1, then 3:30 to 7. Occasionally one or more of the Western docs are out of the country - usually in the mainland doing a rural medicine or relief trip, but usually one of us is there daily. You can always call ahead and check if you want at 853-28589000.

Additionally, every Chinese physician there has been/is being personally trained by our American physician staff in a 4-year Family Medicine training program. The care you receive from them is always supervised by one of us.

For hospital care in Zhuhai, I'd recommend 5th Affiliated. Our resident doctors train there and the CEO is a good friend. We are working together for hopefully some new things in the future, so stay tuned.

Once again, WE ARE NOT MORMON MISSIONARIES.

The Hope Clinic is far more

The Hope Clinic is far more than just a medical clinic. Their many journeys to ZhaoQing to provide medical assistance to the needies there are inspiring, and touching. Who cares if they are Mormons or Budhists! Thank you Hope Medical Staff in Macau.

So, either blue moon is "taking the p**s" as they like to say or being a jerk. If it's the latter, then it comes as no surprise that he's given Liz Taylor a run for the money in a certain area. There. Enough whinging. ;)
