In Zhuhai you can. Try to acess by CDMA.

I am using the adsl from China Telecom and it is fast enough, affordable too.

I guess ADSL is the fastest
I guess ADSL is the fastest and reasonable connection .. about 200rmb/month for a pretty good download speed.
CDMA i guess is comparatively slower and a bit expensive.
If you know of anything faster and stable .. let us know :)

Exactly how fast? Because i want it like 300-500kbps. I can't deal with this internet omg.

My adsl connection is 100 Mbps, and as Anu says, 200 RMB per month, with China Telecom.

Just moved and signed up for new service at China Telecom - 1680/yr for 2Mbps or 2270/yr for 3Mbps. I opted for the faster option, but not so optimistic about realizing that speed.
I inherited a pre-existing 2Mbps connection from CT and and it's not so speedy, but will post results of a before/after bandwidth test when they come to upgrade the modem.
Do you know any good
Do you know any good software to check my DSL connection 'Actual " speed ?

Devo, have you tested the speed? I am interested to know what kind of speed you get with the 3MBPS plan.
Anu you can try this

Nothing but bad news. The 3Mbps plan turns out it's not available in my area. The 2Mbps speeds I've been measuring so far range from 75kbps to about 500kbps. The latter isn't so bad, but it's rare and tends to be non-prime time usage periods like 6am.

Good lord. I just tried the Cnet test. Registered a whopping 87.5kbps. No wonder it takes weeks and weeks to download my "Growing Pains" episodes... ;)
Man, I'm taking weeks to dl
Man, I'm taking weeks to dl anything too.
I tried that. And it was strange, mine says 690.8 Kbps!
But I download anything off BT at 3kbps average!
@ vixen This might be
@ vixen
This might be because you have cable.
Usually the cable net is firewalled in your building. So that means that the BT or eMule ports are closed which gives you that slow speed.
Another thing is that cable is usually shared.. The more poeple have it and use it in your building, the slower it will get.
I really suggest to get the DSL 2Mbit from CT for 200 a month.
I have my download speeds around 200 kb a second..If it s available, you also might try the 3 Mbit line.

Ahh i see that's why. Thanks
Ahh i see that's why. Thanks for the advice, bastiadler. =D
By the way I figured you could change the router control panel from Chinese to English if anyone is interested. The Chinese cpanel confused me to no end.

Haha =D
Did that help? Some control panels do not come with the Upload option. In that case you got to use a TFTP program like
http://tftpd32.jounin.net/tftpd32_download.html
Start it and point to the folder where the latest firmware is. Then choose these options in router cp:
File Name: r402mv2.bin
TFTP Server IP Address: 192.168.1.1

I haven't tested the speed
I haven't tested the speed or done any significant downloads, but I just arrived in Zhuhai, my internet provider is Zhuhai TV, and loading webpages seems nearly as good as my high speed service in the US. Now, I am virtually the first inhabitant of a new apartment building in Jida so as users are added will speed decrease as the bandwidth is consumed.....probably. But I am happily surprised with the quality so far.
I have not run across any apparent censorship so far, although I tend to stick to fairly apolitical sites.
Anu, 4-5 movies ever night!

Testing your speed, The
Testing your speed,
The closer the server is, the faster your speed. The site found by Anu gives much higher results because it is in Hong Kong. You can download a small program from the China Telecom website that will test your speed specifically for Zhuhai.
http://10000.gd.cn/software/zhtool.exe
It is in Chinese but simple enough to understand. Just click the start button and your speed will be displayed in Mb/s. This is the most accurate test for Zhuhai.
Here are my results using CT, 2 Mb/s.
Connected through wireless router - 1.67 Mb/s
Connected directly to modem - 2.07 Mb/s
Using the CNET website, I get results ranging from 10 Kb/s - 80 Kb/s. Connecting to overseas websites is extremely slow. Anything within China / Hong Kong is ok. I'm thinking of upgrading to the 3 Mb/s but I don't know if it will make much difference for overseas websites. I think it might be the "filtering" that makes it so slow.
By the way, I've never been able to access Wikipedia without using a proxy and still can't. I'm surprised that some people can while other cannot using the same ISP (China Telecom).
There are people who CAN
There are people who CAN access Wikipedia still? For a short time i was able to use it since they unban wiki, but now they banned it all over again. Having to switch to proxies is very obnoxious.
