I see that the "satellite service" posting has been removed, so I assume that anything that makes the Middle Kingdom seem anything less that supremely Harmonious will be removed as well? I think it is clearly
I think it is clearly mentioned that on this new website, the community plays an active role in monitoring content: when a vip member clicks on the "flag this" link, the content becomes hidden until it is reviewed. Same thing happens when 3 different members click on it.
So if one of your post disappears temporarely, don't panick :)
(but I checked and your post hadn't been flagged Canrun, so I think you just did not see it)
We have guidelines in our Tips and on the top of each submission page... and I don't think we are being super strict: no rudeness, nom pornography, no racism and must respect the laws of PRC.
I want to add however that this is definately not a political website and if you have some serious issues with the way this country is being governed, this is not the right platform for you to express these feelings.
In the last three years though, I did not have to delete one single post regarding this.
Hope this is clear enough, if not, let me know :)

There is no option for users to add categories cos I am afraid the list would then be endless and therefore not user friendly.
You can however suggest one to us, and we will probably add it :)
I noticed that the 3 items for sale at the moment are cameras, and I don't have a category for this so they had to choose "other" ...
Anybody knows in English a good generic word for tv, camera? I can't find one!!

2) maybe you can just add 'Others' field in the categories.
3) maybe you can also add 'Sports' category for people who wish to buy/sell tennis rackets, bycycles, excercising equipments etc.

having read through many of the postings in the forum, it looks like it may be useful to have some facility that allows for a 'meet and greet' posting would be useful, sort of like an extention of the Calendar, so to speak.
Example 1: a few people have asked about playing Mahjohng, now I'm a little confused. It seems that Wednesday Coffee Morning has moved to Mondays and been replaced by the mahjohng activity. A bullitin board posting of who's gonna be there on a particular day, would help others coordinate turning up.
Example 2: a few people have asked about Yoga classes. Now I know that there are a few around so, Yoga in Jida, Yoga in Xiangzhou, or Yoga at Huafa could also be easily managed through a bullitin board where those who are going (or not going) can make a quick notice and the rest can take that into account.
Example 3+: a few people are interested in 'bushwalking,' 'day hiking,' 'photography walks,' 'island hopping,' and so forth. To coordinate such events, especially when they become repeat events to different places becomes difficult and potentially tedious via the current forums. Having a bulitin board tied to the calendar would certainly make life easier for all and sundry.
What do you think? Is it possible? Is it feesable? Who would use such a feature if it existed?

I agree with you: forums are limited as the threads go down and down and eventually get lost.
In my eyes, Forums are mainly for asking questions and also discussing stuff.
This is why, on this new site, I have given permission to all members to post classifieds, events and A to Z reviews.
Regarding what you are talking about, I think the event page is quite suitable:
1)You can create an event
2) you can ask people to use the comments to say wether they want to join or not. Or even give their opinion on the date, place etc...
3) you can edit your event to change the date or the place etc...
4) this is good for repetitive events as well: no need to rewrite all the event, just edit and modify the date and there you go :)
In fact, this is the big change with the previous site: comments have been enabled in nearly every section of the website...
I have done this to try to prevent people posting all information the forums... and try to organise the info in a more friendly user way :)

Now, don't let the content bother you (anyone) take a look at how they present the space, really very cool effects, especially the transparent forum over the background. I don't know if that's something you can beg, borrow, or otherwise acquire, but I thought you might like to look at it. Can you use it here? I have no idea, but it could be a way of giving different sections of the site their own characteristic or flavour, eg. A to Z?

I have not actually relocated to Zhuhai yet, but will be there in August. I have to say I have found this website to be incredibly useful. I would encourage the members to add more to the A-Z as I think it could be more helpful to the Zhuhai newbies. But overall, a great job from my point of view!

You web site fits nicely in both screens and looks great. Yet many web sites for major global banks do not fit properly on different screens.
Why can you make your site function well yet these billion dollars banks and other corporations can not?

Like Doc ' suggestions, it may be a good idea to have a simple "calendar diary". ie. people who want to see what is happening on a certain date or day of the month(something like in your handphone , to do list etc).
U click on the date to see what are the activities or events. with the date , time and meeting place. Those who wants to have more information can click on a short cut link that take them to the event section where the full descriptions is posted. You colour code the canlendar i.e. when there is activities or events on that day u can see for example Red color on the date in the canlendar.
Or if it is not too difficult to program.. you could have the date scrolling along the top of the page... going by the dates
(something like u see the financial data being displayed on your tv screen) It is just and idea.
