Yellow pages?

Don't think they have anything like the yellow pages, and if they did you'd certainly have to be able to read chinese to use it. Actually, expat9 is the best way I've found to find things when you don't know where to look. Just ask.

It's just as orlog says. Even better if you have a friendly and well connected local you can work with.

There's a Guandgdong Yellow Pages online, but as with all such directories, unless the local business sees value in advertising in it, you won't be able to find them listed in it. Similarly, if they are not listed, and can't be found when using it,the value of using a Yellow Pages Directory is dubious at best.

Well having lived in Macao the last 10 years and not being able to read Portuguese or Cantonese I still did o.k. with the yellow pages as so many adverts there use photos as well.
And well, with the wife being a China girl well, if I've trouble I'd ask her. So, if we have a yellow book at home it is helpful and a lot faster than asking around.

Shenzhen has a yellow pages and I am fairly sure I have seen a Zhuhai one at some time.

Yellow pages are at their most useful if most people are in it. Considering the lengths some businesses go to here to make sure others don't know what's going on, I doubt we will see a western style yellow pages in a long time.

Come to think of it - I have never seen a white pages either. Same deal.
