Maybe a strange question but as a new boy here I would like to ask if most members are expat workers in Zhuhai(with or without their families) or do any have a Chinese Spouse?

Thank you. I would be interested in communicating privately with anyone who has married a Chinese lady and settled in China, as I am in a similar position and need to know about the processes involved in permanent residency etc.

There is a thread here about permanent residency. I believe it was started in December by me. The long and the short of it is that permanent resident status is very difficult to obtain. It take much, much more than just being married to a Chinese national.

A few years back PR (D Visa)

A few years back PR (D Visa) was a "holy grail" sought by many expat teachers. I don't think the situation has changed. In a nutshell, you need to make significant investment in China, it's development, or contribution to the society around you. If I remember correctly, someone also mentioned somewhere as another criteria, marriage and continuous residency for a minimum of five years, before you could follow the spouse path.

Too early me for to

Too early me for to tell/talk about permanent residency, but a Chinese spouse may run into a "sea turtle" problem. Mainland Chiense people who leave PRC, go abroad [presumably for study and work] and return will find it difficult to register as a resident because they do not haev real eastate, a work unit, and various other things needed, particularly if they were keen enough to arrange a telecom/internet job in the hopes of making it easy on themselves. In short, the Chiense spouse will have difficuties as well, at least in the short term.
