Also known as tomb-sweeping

Also known as tomb-sweeping day. A day to go pay respects to ancestors and sweep their tombs. Also it's a day to go and enjoy the new Spring - symbolism for the old and the new.

For most, it'll just be an extra day off. Which is a new concept in China starting this year.

Many oversea Chinese also return to mainland China to pay respect to their ancestors, esp. from Taiwan. The government arranges special flights during this busy time.
The actual translation of Qing Ming is: Pure Brightness.

I see the Chinese workers

I see the Chinese workers are catching on to Western ways. It's such an important day (not) that many companies are trading the day (today - Friday) for a Saturday so that they can have 2 days off rather than have today off then work Saturday then have Sunday off.
