Prescription Pills

Just out of curiosity =)
Certain pills such as Xanex and Vicodin in the U.S. require a prescription; Xanex from a psychologist and Vicodin from a medical doctor. Xanex is prescribed for anxiety. Vicodin is prescribed as a pain killer. How does one in Zhuhai or being in China go about getting these specific pills?

Hey thanks for the tip JJ. I hope the prescription isn't going to be as expensive here as it is in the States. I'm thinking that maybe most of the "generic" brand pills are probably made here in China.

You can also take a walk

You can also take a walk slowly around a major Chinese pharmacy and see what they have then try to buy over the counter, or bring along a box or print out of the active ingredients. Most such pharmacies usually have a computer somewhere with which they can look up the Chinese equivalent of the medicine.

I know that Jian Pian Pharmacy can do this. There is a major (big time) pharmacy behind Vanguard in Gongbei - it's huge, and they have many different type of medicine, both Chinese and Western. Sometimes I like to browse just to see what's actually there.

Recently, I picked up a bottle of zinc pills, which I wasn't able to get anywhere else.\

Talk to one of the English-speaking doctors suggested elsewhere at No.5 Affiliated hospital and see what they say. I'm sure you're not the first foreigner in China in need of Xanax! ;)

Yeah tell me about it! My apartment complex is still under construction and I hear the bagging and the wrecking all day long! Those little blue pills (Xanex) can REALLY help me out and calm some nerves. Although I maybe pushing it a little if I try to score Vicodin from the doctor.=)
