A pedometer is a small device that you carry in your pocket that records how may steps you have taken in a given time, or how far you have walked.

Ped or pod, Latin or Greek, refers to foot, as in pedestrian, peddle, ad nausea. Meter, in Latin, means measure.

I saw one (hand counter )..good for counting heads...people...sheep...whatever !at the "Your Family Store" in Jida Shopping Centre last week. In the bike sales area, Was about 15RMB.

I wonder how they say this in Chinese then :)

By the way, what is a pedestrian any way? An equestrian that's lost their horse?

On topic. I got my pedometer from MacDonald's a couple of years ago, and it's shaped like a foot, funny that.

For pedometers, you could try the Gongbei Underground either in the sports stores or near the watch sellers. I think they may have one or two digital sports watches that act as heart monitor and pedometer. Come to think of it you could also try some of the Pharmacies that carry massage and monitoring gadets, you may possibly find a pedometer there also.
