iPhone version 2 3G

I am just wondering if the new iPhone 3G is being sold here yet. Also I read that the 3G system for the US is not the same as the Chinese version of 3G. The two are not interoperable. Therefore it would be a waste of money buying one. Is this correct?
Has anyone bought one and used it in Zhuhai?

From what I read the other day, the mainland only has a couple of test markets offering 3G at the moment and China Telecom will be rolling it out to more cities soon, but the list is still small (~10 more cities?). I do not think Zhuhai will make the cut.
I do not think any 3G iPhones are available in China (real ones).
A waste of money if you are
A waste of money if you are living in Zhuhai. Besides, the thing (I-Phone) is a brick so maybe its a good thing. No 3g here so no one gets conned into carying a brick around with useless features.
Please someone, find me a small phone, not phone/camera not phone/anything just a phone, smaller & lighter the better.
