Helicopter Pilot based in Macao. Could'nt stand living there anymore soooo... moved here! ZH is much much better than Macao.
Also, I own a restaurant in Macao (Second income)
The wife is a Bizness Woman..

Oh, and this is also what I did (not the restaurant part) in the US. Pay and opportunities here were better which is why I moved and for a lifestyle change.
Figured on being here 2 to 2.5 years tops...that was ten years ago!
I have been in Zh for a year
I have been in Zh for a year and enjoy going to Macao to shop etc. It seems like a nice place. Cleaner than ZH, less traffic noise. Bob why did you not care for it? With your profession it was not the higher cost of living. I am just curious. I guess going there for the day and actually living there are two different things. Thanks Bob.
helicopter pilot. Did you
helicopter pilot. Did you learn it from Military or private parties? I heard it's alot hard than flying a plane. I almost become a pilot (I play flight simulator through out college hahaha).

Just curious; how do you handle your visa issues with working in Macau and living in ZH?

The same bleedin' job I did in China-teaching! (Mock away, Roy!)
Lived like a king on my salary there. Here, milk is 4$/gallon and beer is $2.50/bottle. Man, I am a glutton for punishment. Or a total sucker.
Hope my old landlord hasn't rented out my place yet ;)

Been in China (Zhuhai and Zhongshan) for almost 5 of the last 8 years. All of that time I have been a teacher and Director of Studies. I plan to retire here if I can ever get the visa situation sorted out.

Macao has changed a lot
Macao has changed a lot since I moved there in 98. In that time just in Taipa alone more than 60 buildings have went up.
There is constant noise from construction. Dust from same. 100,000 more people than there was 10 years ago in a place that is the same size. Gazillion more cars and busses on the road. The place is WAY too crowded for my taste.
Cleaner than ZH??? You must be joking. And Zhuhai actually has some parks and greenery. A park in Macao is an open area of concrete. If the see a tree they mark it for the ax man.
They do have a bigger army of street cleaning ladies there and the cardboard collecting old ladies but that is the only thing they do better.
ZhuHai has its problems. Upkeep is one of them but I'll take it here with a little open space and some green over Macao anyday.
As for shopping, I do not know what you can get there that you can not here. I always needed to go to
HK for anything western.
Regarding my career. I have been flying since 1981. All civilian. Yes it earns me a good wage but even with that the cost of things like housing are going up exponentially in Macao and it affects everyone at every earning level.

Been a teacher for 10 years or so.. made China my home about 6 years ago.. always loved the ocean so Zhuhai seemed like a nince place to be..

I'd to get a job in Macau, but I live with my boyfriend in Zhuhai and do not intend to rent another place in Macau. I would like very much to know how to manage it regarding to visa issues!

I'm having real issues with 'reverse culture shock' at the moment (specifically sicker shock, fat Americans and not being able to take a taxi after a beer--or seven!)
Wonder if my old apartment is still available...
Well, I came here originally
Well, I came here originally from US to Macao for the job. So, when that happened the company arranged all the paperwork for the working permits and all.
After I was here for a couple years I applied for Macao ID based on professional status. So, I am now a Macao resident and have no problems coming and going to Macao.
Here in Zhuhai it is the usual thing I guess everyone else went through. Came here to live and apply for visa with the Public Security Bureau.
I'd say it is pretty unlikely to get a job in Macao just going over and applying. People need to be brought in as skilled labor and go through the proper channels.
