I need some help for my two cats

Tags:

I have a bit of a problem for which I need some help, and I need to find it soon. Here’s the deal. I have two male cats. They are 17 month old brothers, and they both have all of their male “equipment”. Yes, I know; I should have taken care of this matter some months ago, but, for a number of reasons, we didn’t. Their behavior over the past few months has been getting much too “rambunctious”, if you catch my drift?

I need to find a reliable, competent, veterinarian in Zhuhai who can relieve them of their male “equipment” without putting their lives in danger, or subjecting them to undue stress and/or pain. My wife and I are both very attached to these two guys, and we don’t want to see them enduring any unnecessary suffering.

Can anyone recommend a competent veterinarian or animal hospital who can help me? Yes, I’ve already checked out “A to Z”, but I would prefer a personal recommendation from someone who has had their pet worked on and had good results.

Hi Orrin, we also have two

Hi Orrin,

we also have two cats, male and female. While we haven't had the need for operations we regularly get their vaccinations done at the vet which is directly opposite White Lotus Park in Jiuzhou Da Dao Dong.

When we needed to implant them we got the chips from Shanghai and the Quarantine Station did the implanting: it's in Jida (also Jiuzhou Da Dao Dong, moderately opposite the neo-classical architecture of some bank).

They also did the blood sampling for rabies testing. While the sampling was a bit of a trauma, the implanting was good. Different people, different skills I'm afraid...

yes, I know the vet that Doc recommend, it's not far from the China unicom building in Jiuzhou Da Dao Dong. Our female kitten needs the operation also, just I'm not very sure about that vet is the best one, or is it so necessary to have the operation now.
I did visite a few vets for my kitten's Chronic eye problem, but doesn't work, they always said it's normal that cats have liquid eyes. Does anybody need to clean your cat's eyes few times a day?

@Ivy:

One of mine needs his eyes cleaned every day. He's been like that since the first day we got him and his brother 13 months ago. It doesn't seem to bother him though.

@Doc:

Thanks for the advice. I think I can manage with them in sign language if I have to. It should be fairly easy to convy that both need to have their "huavos" removed. ;)

We have used the vet near China Unicom for our two moggies and also I know a company that has used them for their guard dogs. The vets are highly recommended but you need someone who speaks Chinese.

Horrible... and very stupid I think: I am convinced that less cats will mean more rats.
In Coloane village, which is a cat sanctuary, there are very few rats to be seen.

Perhaps, if someone here in Zhuhai takes the time to read every word in this whole nauseating story, they might think twice before they let their pets out of the house un-tethered or unaccompanied.

That will help!

This makes about as much

This makes about as much sense as the article in my first comment about the cat killings in Beijing. Are the Boulder CO. city officials referring to mice and rats as “small mammals"?

The moronic, politically correct, eco-terrorists who dream up this kind of crap are the ones who should be “kept inside”……… permanently.

Well, the deed is done. I just got back from taking my two cats to the vet y'all recommended. After today, they will be "lady boys". The vet told me that even the castration only takes about 30 min., they must keep them for 3 days for observation in case they have any adverse reactions to the inoculations.

I wonder if their voices will change?

I took them (2) to the vet this morning, and I am scheduled to pick them up Wed. afternoon. The surdery + their shots + 3 days there comes to a total of 600rmb.

i'll try to find some beautiful photos of my cats....
my cat was almost 3 years old when i did that surgery to him.
so,600rmb is quite expensive for me.

orrin's picture

Well, the neutering surgery

Well, the neutering surgery on my two male cats was successful. They’ve been home for 5 days now, and it appears that they have finally recovered from the trauma and all of the drugs they were given.

All in all, I am quite satisfied with the way the staff at the hospital did their jobs. This is not a criticism, but it was obvious that the vet(s) and the rest of the staff are much more accustomed to handling dogs than cats. In the 3 days they were in hospital, I had to make 3 separate trips there, because one or the other of my two cats would not allow the vet(s) to handle them for injections or other treatment. I had to go there to get them out of their carriers or the vet’s cage and hold them while the vet(s) worked on them. Again, this is not a criticism; merely an observation.

So, thank all of you who referred me to this place.
