How to get a temporary residence Visa in Zhuhai???
Tags:
My husband & family are currently in the process of applying for our residency Visa renewal here in Zhuhai. It expires for our family on April 2nd. My husband has to travel to Canada & the US on April 3rd for business, his current passport pages are almost all filled and we are awaiting his new passport. However, there have been delays with the passport and it appears we will not have enough business days (5 are needed, I believe) to process the Visa applications before his departure. We are likely going to have to get 30 day temporary Visas for all of us until he returns April 16th.
We understand there is a Chinese Visa office(?) at the Jiuzhou ferry port. Does anyone know if we can apply for our 30 day temporary Visa on this side of the border or do we have to be coming in from outside the country? ie. coming in from Hong Kong. Or, can a Chinese Visa be issued at Gongbei border, coming in from Macau perhaps? Also, what is the turnaround time on issuing a 30 day Visa? Any insights anyone may have into this would be very helpful.

I believe it's possible, and
I believe it's possible, and that the place you need is the other side of the mountain and out near the football stadium. Allow at least 3 - 5 working days. I am sure some of the old hands here can tell you more.
That PSB complex in New
That PSB complex in New Xiangzhou can be pure chaos on Mondays and Fridays. Try to visit in the middle of the week if you can. Also, bring someone with you who is fluent in both oral and written Chinese. That will smooth the process.

There is a three day visa
There is a three day visa that is possible to obtain. It limits you to travel only within Zhuhai. When we have friends on a weekender from OS, we usually advise they get one of these, and it takes about 30-50 min to issue, costing about 150 rmb or there abouts. They can be obtained at the Macau-Zhuhai Border on the second floor, (opposite wall to the CITS Office) but you have to be on your way in.
At the 'stadium' as Orin said it can be pandemonium. Do bring a Chinese translator who you can trust, it does make a difference. Explain your situation carefully, and they may be able to assist you, especially if you have an idea of what to ask for. I don't know how long the processing takes.
My family and I were in a similar situation: visa status change due to job changes, new passport ordered and flying out in a short space of time. The former company had to go guarantor that we would not return on the non-canceled, incorrect' visa.

I went to the Gongbei border
I went to the Gongbei border today on my return from Macau and asked at the Chinese Visa office there on the 2nd floor. However, they only issue 3 day visas. They didn't know of a 30-day visa and thus directed me to the Visa office in Zhuhai, saying I should check with them. Not surprising that they wouldn't know if/where I could get one.
So, I'm still trying to find out where to get the 30-day temporary visa. Not sure if it can be found at the Zhuhai Visa office or not. Anyone know anything more?

Have you tried CTS in Macau?
Have you tried CTS in Macau? You can get 6 month visas there in 1 day. I don't know if they have 30 day visas or not.
I haven't tried there yet,

In case you need
In case you need directions.....
Standing in front of the old Lisboa, looking straight across the street at the new one, walk a few hundred meters down the street to the RIGHT. Just before you get to a pedestrian overpass, there is a Toyota car dealer on the opposite side of the street. CTS is on the 2nd floor above the dealership, enter from the side on the little alley.
