Don't miss the new Fatburger

Don't miss the new Fatburger in the Venetian! (Somehow, I think you'll ignore this advice...)

"Fog Cutter Capital Group Inc. Opens Its First Fatburger Restaurant In China"

(PORTLAND, OR) – October 1, 2007 -- Fog Cutter Capital Group Inc. (OTCBB: FCCG) has announced the opening of the company’s first Fatburger restaurant in China, located in the Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel.

Additional Fatburger restaurants are scheduled to open in Hong Kong in the coming months: the first on Queens Road East and the second at Jia Hotel in Causeway Bay in early 2008. Fatburger also plans to open a Beijing location at Solana – the city’s first lifestyle center – in April 2008. Fatburger estimates call for approximately 25 locations in China by the end of 2010, all company-owned. Additional sites on the horizon include further locations in Hong Kong, Macao, Shenzen, Beijing and Shanghai. Customers will enjoy Fatburger favorites, including imported, fresh, 100 percent pure lean beef burgers, homemade onion rings made from scratch each morning and hand-scooped real ice cream shakes."

Hi Jenny, we just went this

Hi Jenny, we just went this weekend or we would join you. My gf loves to shop in Macau. If you don't get anyone to guide you around this weekend, let me know and we can arrange something for a future date.

Fatburger? i haven't heard

Fatburger? i haven't heard this restaurant before.hehe...have searched it on google for it, the food looks good. Anyway, if i have any chance to find the place, i will try.

Thank you ddblough. i think i will go this weekend, since my Macao pass is going to expire soon and i don't want to waste it. talking about the Macao&HK pass issue for chinese, i am always wondering why we chinese still need a pass to going there, since Macao and HK are parts of China now. and also the citizenship issue, i don't have the citizenship in Zhuhai, so i must go back to GZ to re-apply for the pass. Such a painful issue......

Hope we can go and shop there next time, ddblough!

I want to go all over the world!!

Therein lies one of the advantages and disadvantages of the "one country, two systems" policy. My Guangxi-born wife can't even GET a Macau/HK visa anymore...too many people left and never returned.

If that was the case Jenny_zh, to have an open border policy, I think Macau and Hong Kong would be bursting at the seams. With millions of insular mainland Chinese trying to find the mysterious roads of gold that await them in these locations. The social systems there are very different; than here on the mainland, always scratch deeper than the surface Jenny. The border is there for a reason and very sensible reason too!

Hey ZZ. Can you give more

Hey ZZ. Can you give more details on applying for your visa on the internet? My gf has the same problem and has been sending her ID and visa to her brother in Zhangjiang. What is the link? Do you worry about them losing your ID?

Thanks!

The website: http://www.gdcrj.com/wssq/
She should send the visa back to her resident city(ZhanJiang),ID is no need, and then re-apply the pass on the website!

Yes, Kingstadlux. You are

Yes, Kingstadlux. You are right. But the more limitations people have going to Macao, the more eager they are and Macao looks more mysterious for them.
Macao is a tour city and what they need is the tourists, the more the better within certain limitation. the different system and culture attracts people there for a venture and sightseeing or shopping.China has a big pupulation and there should be a limitation on the valum of people going to Macao and HK depending on the city's acceptance capability but i still don't agree about the visa applying system. Citizenship shouldn't be a limitation, not in the aspect of visa and also many other areas. it's a pain when thousands of people working somewhere other than their hometowns.

Anyway, any suggestions about the hot shops in Macao? for clothes, makeups, books and other hot spots i shouldn't miss them?

I want to go all over the world!!

You can try El Centro

You can try El Centro (probably Largo de Senado on your map if you have one). Many clothes shops, make-up shops, etc are located here, plus many small side streets with more local flavor. You can also sightsee at the Ruins of St Pauls and the old fort just next to it. When you are tired you can have coffee at Starbuck's or ice cream at Hagen Daz.

Or you could try the big department store, New Yaohan (close to the ferry terminal). Very upscale clothes and jewelry, but also quite a bit more expensive.

Macau is not really a

Macau is not really a tourist city but a casino city. Most aluring for them would be the bus loads of mainlanders that have the big dollars to punt in the casinos. Because gambling is still meant to be illegal within your country. Im not sure if the tour buses of mainlanders not within that financial classification, all wearing yellow hats and ambling around is a good idea or not. But then again they prolly all hit the 'Sic Bo' tables at the casino too. So if you totally open the border what will happen is pandemonium, every beggar, farmer and other will still be trying to find the famous roads of gold.

I've always wanted to travel via the internet, it seems like such a fast way to get from A to B. Please let me know what it's like and which internet travel service you most recommend. :-p

Peace. Have a lovely day

Now we're talking. I love Thai food even more than Italian. I'm going to get my fix next week in Shanghai, but if anyone knows of a good place in Zhuhai or Macau, I'd love to hear about it.

BTW, I meant the name of the side street, but "turn right at the McD's" is good enough for me.

I should check out the thai place in zhuhai sometime.

Good questions about

Good questions about Toscana. I used to go to Toscana when it had a branch near the Jetfoil to Hong Kong, but it has moved since then. I am now looking for it.

"Turn rt at MCD" is a bit vague for me. There is a MCD along from the Leal Senado towards Rua Central. Is that the one? Probably not, I would say.

Google has maps for Hong Kong, but I am not sure if they cover Macao now. A map of the area might be the best way to solve the problem.

BTW, I am going to Macao on December 15, and then to Zhuhai on December 16, so I would be happy to meet up with anyone going the same or the other way, if that makes sense !

If so, there's a really fab Portuguese restaurant, about 30 m up th lane on the left. Wonderful food and service. The coffee bars/bakeries further along are also great to visit.

Got it. I know the alleyway.

Got it. I know the alleyway. That is a different MCD, but you're right, it is the more logical MCD as it is on San Malo (Leal Senado, Centro apparently - all the same).

I remember Toscana is on your left going up the hill. There is a Portuguese restaurant near the top on your right, and that is probably the Portuguese restaurant being referred to.

So that's sorted, then.

Hi everyone, first post

Hi everyone, first post here. I am planning on going to Macau next week for a day or two. I plan on flying from Beijing to Zhuhai and then crossing over into Macau. A few questions:

1) How far is the Macau Border from the Zhuhai airport, and what are my options to get there?

2) Is Macau like HK in the sense Canadians don't need a special visa?

3) What are the prices on food, lodging and shopping like in Macau compared to HK, Shanghai and Beijing?

4) Do the casinos have Texas Hold em poker tables?? :)

Thanks for any help you can provide. I plan on flying down on either the 10th or 11th and returning in 1-2 days. Is anyone else interested in making a run with me?

whoa guys! macau is great

whoa guys! macau is great for all types of tucker,[vietnamese anyone?] but zhuhai's own little thai restaurant just after bar street,on the left heading toward gongbei ,is fantastic, and economically priced. the fey-thai decor is nifty/kitsch, and the dishes not so fiery hot for newbies. thouroughly recommended.

1) 3 borders to go from

1)
3 borders to go from Zhuhai:
Gongbei, Wanzai and Hengqin.
The closest to the zhuhai airport is the hengqin one.
Check this page later today or tomorrow ( needs updating):
http://zhuhai.expat9.com/handbook/macau-to-zhuhai
Please note that the zhuhai airport is quite far from the down town area ( 1 hour driving).
2)
No need for a visa for Canadians to go to Macau.

3)
Macau is still cheaper than HK for food and lodging... not sure compare with Shanghai or Beijing.

4)
Not sure about the Poker question... maybe you could ask this one in the Macau forum :)
