just forget about that.
just forget about that.
As we say in Georgia..."That
As we say in Georgia..."That dog ain't gonna hunt!"
I can't help but give my
I can't help but give my thoughts on this. I was in the same boat 20 years ago. My nanny is so good to my kids that I just want the best for her, of course, I am also thinking of the good life if she was able to help me. Well, she did join me in another country, but things change, maybe I expected things to be the same or she expected something better. She returned to her own country and until now, I wish I could kept in touch with her.
First, let me ask you, do you want to help her to get to the States so she can find her way out in the new world, or you expect her to stay with you?
To be honest, it is very hard for her to get a visa, unless you are a diplomat, and I do not know how things have changes lately.
Please let me know what you have decided, just a little bit curious and emotional on my part.
My uncle was in a different
My uncle was in a different position of course, having had connections with money and clergy and business, but when I was a child he came back from Taiwan, where he was doing free medical clinics through his church, and he brought a housekeeper for his aging mother, my grandmother. She stayed in the U.S. and still came to family gatherings after my grandma passed. No funny business- he had similarly brought a wife from a stay in Hong Kong. The housekeeper turned out to be much more faithful than the wife, by the way.
No my kid is really attached and of course she makes my life so much easier. Also I have some physical problems that flare up, but it is nothing to her to walk two miles a day with my two-year-old and he loves it. In addition, I have elderly parents, 87 and 74, so she could help there. I figured it was probably impossible but thought I would check it out just in case!
Just to add my 2 cents... I
Just to add my 2 cents... I hear they have to take classes etc... even to be considered to get visa.. classes not needed by USA but by China... maybe something political... Can anyone clarify this?... I mean it seems pretty easy for someone from mainland to get to Thailand, Malaysia or Hong Kong... but almost impossible to get to USA.. without some ridiculous year or two wait....
I looked on the embassy
I looked on the embassy website, but I found the information really confusing.
I know they regularly export
I know they regularly export "health care givers" from Philippines to the US. I would go to a domestic agency in Macau and see what they have to say.
Is she in Macau or the
Is she in Macau or the Mainland? Two very different entities indeed...
But, the Ayi still ain't getting the visa no matter what. Sorry to burst any bubbles. It took two YEARS to get my WIFE to the States.
(By the way...She's really good with kids, Hester! Can you take her for, say, two or three years?? Hehe!) ;)
