It is interesting that today is known as Vesak day (or Buddha's Birthday) in some countries. I wonder if Karma had anything to do with this? I HOPE that no-one was hurt!

Gosh, my bf told me that i need to have a drink of water coz i probably was just dehydrated-that is why the room seemed rocking!!!
I live on the 11th floor and the whole apt was rocking for a few minutes..sooo wierd.
Thought i was going CRAZY!!! :)

I guess that I posted too soon. Not 30 seconds after I clicked the "Post comment" button, Rearl TV came on with the headline "1000 DEAD IN CHINA EARTHQUAKE". Reports earlier in the day had stated that there were "no reports of dead or injured". I sincerely hope that accurate casualty numbers don't go much higher. A mag 7.8 quake, however, does not ususlly hit a populated area without leaving a significantly higher number of casualties in its wake. I guess that we'll just have to wait and see....and pray!

I have it a closer to 10'000 from the reports that I'm reading. I hope it does not get any higher.

Did it ever quaked here in Macau/Zhuhau/HK area in the past history?

I would like to know if there is any relief fund being organized by the expat community for the victims of the Earth quack? I would like to be able to help some how but do not know where to begin.

Macau Zhuhai region not prone to Earthquakes but since it's inline with Ocean floor it's subject to tsunami as neighboring Japan has the highest seismic activities in the World.

I would say is there a gathering place that is willing to donate part of the proceeds to Earthquake victims? If so just plan a lunch or something. Of course maybe ask red cross to setup drop box for extra donations.

ok, I will ask the Zhuhai Charity bureau if they have something like this set up already.
