Cottage Cheese/Ricotta

hi hale,
we have cottage cheese, but we do not sell them to customers, we prepare them in our restaurant in different curries.its called PANEER in our indian language.so if you feel to eat cottage cheese you can come to our restaurant(JEWEL OF INDIA )situated in jida.

How helpful to read such a shamelessly self-serving response from Mr. Gope, particularly since he declares Jewel of India won't sell to the public. Obviously I'm seeking a source for my own cooking.

sorry hale if you felt offended. i just wanted you to know that i dont think you will find any cottage cheese in any supermarket in zhuhai.its mostly made at home.we also make it in our restaurant but its only for our restaurant consumption.

I've only been able to find ricotta in Hong Kong at City Super in the IFC building. What I normally do is purchase a couple of containers and store them in my freezer. The ricotta keeps well in the freezer. I haven't seen cottage cheese anywhere, if you can find it FOR SALE, let me know.

Cottage cheese is sometimes sold in Macau at Park n Shop, Seng Cheong, and Pavilions supermarkets. Oh, also the mega french gourmet market (cannot remember name). But like all good things, it is not always on the shelves. So, when you see it, best to buy lots. You might not find it again for 3 months.

Hale, please, don't be so exaggerated and overreacted: let the man make his advertisement. By the way, I have been at Jewel of India last week and it was very good. =)

I will stop by Zhuhai Deli today, ask if they have ricota and come to let you know.

I did not see ricota, cottage... at Zhuhai Deli. Only a sort of other fresh cheese, they sell in very small portions in a bag, like cheese for children take to school... And it seems to be harder then those ones you want. I saw fetta cheese, maybe you could use as a substitute...

That was possibly fresh(-ish) mozarella
