Chinese citizen tourist visa

Tags:

Does anyone have experience of obtaining a tourist visa for a Chinese citizen (female) travelling alone to (say) the UK. I know the Chinese government prefer for tourists to travel abroad in organized tour groups, but I also heard that a single person can deposit 50.000(?)yuan in a bank account, presumably to ensure return. I know this applies to some other Asian countries. Any help would be appreciated.

50k deposit is requirement

50k deposit is requirement for most country which i am sure include UK. You need to go to contact to UK embassy for interviews. There is probably one in GuangZhou or Hong Kong They will determine if you qualify for Visa or not.

I know that for the US it is

I know that for the US it is virtually impossible, but I had a Chinese colleague (single, mid-20's female) who was able to travel to the UK twice on a travel visa in the last couple of years. That being said, she was always VERY coy and evasive on exactly how she managed to get the visa.

Two good web sites for visa-related questions are:
www.candleforlove.com
and
www.visajourney.com

(Though their emphasis seems to be on immigrant-related visas...)

I would imagine the best way

I would imagine the best way would be if you have a company sponsor you if that is at all possible.

As you have guessed the

As you have guessed the deposit is to ensure you return. Western counties are full of illegal Chinese immigrants who have not returned home, hence it's been made very difficult for those of genune intentions.

I know some Chinese who just can't get a Visa no matter what they do, and for some it's not so hard. Don't ask for anything special, get there and back as a 2 week tourist (or for work if you have the contacts) and the second time should be easier.

I have one friend who got his girlfriend a Visa to Australia (one of the harder places to get to) but another who just can't manage it. One couple did the work themselves (successfully - but it's a lot of work) and the other has used an agency - and lots of cash, thus far without success.

As a single girl, I reckon you are pushing your luck. Good luck to you, I hope you succeed.

Just check out the UK

Just check out the UK consulate site..you can find all the info there!
If you have a return ticket, a travel itinerary, approved leave from work for the trip time and enough money to show that you wont need any support while you there- you should be fine.

Thank you for the advice so

Thank you for the advice so far. As you can see I am not the lady in question but she is very greatful for your help. Having looked at the British Embassy site, it mentions only requiring funds in a bank account to cover expenses for the visit, not a specific amount. Is the rumoured 50K yuan an additional Chinese Government requirement?

Some years ago i brought our

Some years ago i brought our office manager to Canada. Not an easy task. First time it was denied because she was 23 and not married. So we discussed that in endless faxes with the canadian consulate in HK. After paying another application fee (CAD 75) the case was reviewed and accepted. No deposit was required at all. But we had to supply them a copy of the passport EXIT stamp page to show them that the person actually has left canada.

Well I understand the siuation. First you have issues about health care because if anything happens to the person lets say in canada .. a day in a hospital costs about US$ 700 without any doctor visits. Needless to say that a 10 day stay busts the travelbudget surely.

THat is one of the major concerns when a visa is issued, of course besides the fact that the person might not return. But in that case 50 000 rmb will not pay for the search and recover option of the illegal immigrant.

20years ago it was a lot more easy to "dive under the immigration radar" move there and start a life. Today in most countries you would not even get a job or bank account opened without proper documentation.

Cheers
