Doc's New Site

Tags:

Hi folks,

well it's been pretty busy here. I'm currently sitting in an appartment in Munich, chilling for the weekend before heading back to Bad Honnef, after which, janine, luka and I will head over to Berlin, then to hamburg and after that to Hanoi. After a few weeks there I hope to visit Zhuhai for about a week, to say hello to everyone.

Anyway, the reason for this topic,

I've just completed and uploaded my new website, http://www.tsctempest.com and I would like for someone to take a look at it, if posible, and give me some honest feedback on asethetics, workability, ease of use, contact form, links, etc.

I've nailed the domain down for the next five years so, if anyone wants to contact me, there's still a little time :-p

Feedback via expat9 would be great especially if there are divergent opinions.

warm regards to one and all,

Doc.

The site looks good, clean

The site looks good, clean and slick. Pages load quickly and navigation is ok, but not sure you need the gallery numbers and the thumbnail links. Could cause some confusion. Two slight critisicms are;
1. The magnification factor 1.2 and 1.5 are too great for the resolution of the images. I think I would stick with 1 which seems large enough, otherwise increasing the resolution will slow down the site.

2. Autoplay on the slide show didn't work for me, either changing before the image displayed, or no image at all.

I would also use a form (if possible) for email contact, otherwise your email address will be harvested for SPAM.

Hi gaffer, thanks for your

Hi gaffer,

thanks for your feedback.

I take the point about the magnification and the email - fixed.

Autoplay seems quirky, pressing play starts the slideshow at image 1 in gallery 1. It hen pauses for a while as it loads the next gallery. You can then skip to a differnt gallery by clicking on a galery number to the side of the autoplay button. unfortunately, renaming the galleries would require a significant site overhaul due to it's structure and al the javascript bits sprinkled throughout it. :-(

Thanks again.

regards,

@Doc: The new website looks

@Doc:
The new website looks great. Just an update; I finally managed to find online, and for free: A .PDF of the users manual (all 140 pages of it!) for my LUMIX FZ50 camera. I lost the manual when I moved from Zhongshan to Zhuhai. Now I can get back to trying to figure out how to use it properly.

I also managed to find the latest edition of "Photoshop CS3 for Dummies" (all 450 pages) on the same site. It is HUGE!; the .rar file is 16MB, and it expands to a 25MB .PDF file, in color. Its also a difficult read.

Just an update,

I've managed to get the feedback form working properly now, so if you ever want to get in contact, drop me a line via the website, and I'll get back to you.

Within the near future I should also have a blog up and running, discussing different aspect of photography, so drop by from time to time and add your views.

I'm pretty hapy with it now, so I'll focusing more on content - so many photos to process, and fix up for posting.
