Macau Casinos

I have a buddy coming to visit who wants to go to Macau for a one day gambling trip. I know nothing about the casinos in Macau. My buddy is a veteran Vegas gambler. Can anyone help with recommendations, descriptions etc of the best casinos in Macau?
Thanks for the help.

If your buddy is a Vegas
If your buddy is a Vegas fan, you should visit the Venetian! I just went to go visit last week at it blew me away. I've been to Vegas serveral times so I know that your buddy will be impressed. The casino is huge! Not to mention that that if you guys decide to stay a night (I did) the hotel is an all suite property, plenty of room. The restaurants are first class and conveinantly located on the property so you wouldn't have to wander far from the casino floor.=) The massive casino floor is happening too. However to my disappointment the Sport Book was not open yet so if that's your thing look elsewhere or there's plenty of other distractions on the floor. This Venetian is bigger that the one in Vegas as well. They also have a great line up for shows if you guys would like to catch them. The only thing that is missing is the monsterous clubs that Vegas has, Macau didn't strike me as a clubbing atmosphere. The everybody just likes to gamble. One more thing. . . they do have a free drink limit. We were cut off at about 8 free drinks on the floor (that is alchohol). However, I noticed that everyone seem to be drinking coffee though, I guess the Chinese aren't much for drinking while gambling.
Agreed, Venetian good venue.
Agreed, Venetian good venue. Also the Sands is pretty good too, mainly only have Sic Bo, roulette, black jack, caribbean stud, lots of other assorted asian influenced games and way to many pokies. Great bands and lots of hot russian female dancers to look at.

Venetian and sands!
Venetian and sands!
So we went to the Venetian.
So we went to the Venetian. Nice place. The buffet restaurant just outside the casino (Bambu) was pretty good, though a bit pricy. Y208 for dinner, not including drinks. We didn't even make it to the shopping center. Will have to do that next time.
We also took a peak at the Grand Lisboa and Wynn casinos. I think the Venetian is nicer. It's not awfully convenient, but I will go back there next time I am in the mood.
Don't miss the new Fatburger
Don't miss the new Fatburger restaurant in the Venetian! 2 pounds of fresh-ground chuck. Yummm....
Except they don't use gloves
Except they don't use gloves when preparing the sandwiches which is not very sanitary but the milkshakes are great
2 pounds of ground
2 pounds of ground beef...yeah that'll make you park yourself at the table for a few hours. Good thinking on the casino's part
My wife and I went to the
My wife and I went to the Venetian about 3 weeks ago, and I must say that I was a bit disappointed. With the exception of the Fatburger (where we ate), the rest of the shopping along the “Grand Canal” was horribly overpriced, and, as a result, most of the shops were devoid of customers. The reason for this is quite simple; THEY’RE TOO DAMMED EXPENSIVE!! These shops are much too pricey for the locals to shop there, and the foreigners can do much better (40% to 60%) for the same brands in HK. The only shops that we saw doing any business was a souvenir/book shop and the Levis shop. The only human beings in the vast majority of the others were terminally bored looking sales clerks standing around chatting with each other. By the way, we never saw a single paying passenger in any of the gondolas on the canal in the 3 hours we were there.
There are two food courts that we saw. The one in which the Fatburger is the largest of the two is mostly fast food, and the prices there, although considerably higher than on the outside, are not as exorbitant as the other area with mostly sit-down places. I mean, would you pay HK$1150. for a Christmas dinner for 2, or HK$200 for a burger, chips, and a small beer? I wouldn’t, and didn’t.
TO:orrin I went to venetian
TO:orrin
I went to venetian last saturday.and bought a suits from G2000.it is RMB 800 cheaper than zhuhai.and some brand clothes also have discount during 'xmas.
I didn't see the G2000 shop
I didn't see the G2000 shop while I was there, but what I DID see was that just about all of the up-market shops were not attracting any actual or potential customers. With the exception of some bored looking clerks, they were empty. I guess I was too early for the Christmas sales.
We spent two days and nights
We spent two days and nights in the Venetian just before Christmas. The suite was perfect and as well appointed as any I have stayed in. The Casino is huge and larger than any I have seen in Vegas. We were lucky and won enough to cover our 2nd night. The service is great. They have some programing so that the person who answers your call to the front desk speaks your language.
Also visited The Grand Lisbo but found that taxis did not want to pick us up. What's up with that? We finally walked all the way back to the Sands to catch the bus back to Venetian. That was the first time taxi drivers actually told us that they were not going that way and refused to open doors for us.
We will not go to downtwon Macau again due to the Taxi fiasco but we do look forward to our next visit to Venetian after the pool area is complete. They promise a large "adult" pool and other large water features.
The Gondolas were all in service during the eveings and were pretty full with people waiting to get on. But for a 12 minute ride at those prices, we passed. We did buy some cosmetics at good prices in the Duty Free shop but the other shops had either uninsipring merchandise, too high prices or both.
After finally getting my
After finally getting my Fatburger that my buddy Big Jon had been raving about, I have to admit I was disappointed with the Venetian. Here is a very apropos excerpt from today's HK Standard Op-Ed section:
"The Venetian, in spite of the gondolas in swimming-pool-tile- lined canals, is little more than a shopping mall. Some people like that sort of thing, but the artificiality gives it a down-market feel, something unlikely to improve as the paint on the stucco begins to discolor and chip."
Can't say that I disagree at all. According the the article, the Wynn has its share of problems, too.

FYI, using the Henqing port
FYI, using the Henqing port to go to the west part of Macau, e.g. Venetian. It's empty! I guess it's too good for Sat/Sun avoiding the rush Gongbei port.
Not always empty
Not always empty unfortunately... sometimes big tours use this border...
