The Australian Sense of Humour - Nicknames

I had quite the chuckle when I did a Google search for "Kingstadlux!" ;)

hey DOC , i dont think that whole aussie nickname business is what is done in real life is it? - CHOPPER ha ha. we had a guy at the gas company in oz [ yes, i was once a gas plumber] who talked so much he was called '5KA' [ a popular radio station callsign.]another mate in oz was only known to me as 'Bastard',i worked in a band in adelaide with a nasty but talented singer who was always referred to [ by all in the industry] as Tony C*nt, i even call my little sweetheart in china ' the Electrolux' [ well known oz vaccuum cleaner brand] as she eats ANYthing, and eveything.cheers mate , loved your post.

What about the name for a three legged dog? [Tripod]
Tall thin guy? [Slim]
Someone with red hair? [Red or more commonly, Bluey]
I also knew a guy who was called "Alphabet" because he had five or six given names.
When I worked for Ashton's Circus, I had long frizzy hair, so they called me "Fuzz-Buzz" - true story.

my aussie mate winnie [nickname] got two identical but differently gendered kittens. to avoid confusion he named them boy trevor and girl trevor.

not an australian one, but got a quite fat friend who doesn't stop wobbling once you touch him. we call him rubber

It's an eternal battle for my Chinese friends to understand what my name is, for they have heard my real name, 2 shortened versions of it, a business name, my girlfriend's name for me and my preferred nickname. As an Aussie it's not unusual to have all sorts of names except the correct one. Of my friends, I have one called "Aunty Jack" - his real name is David, another David called "Squid", an Allen called "Bluey" but his hair is grey, a Gary called "Ace" and finally a Simon who is called "Tripod" .... something to do with having 3 very long legs. As my Dad says, call me anything you want, except late for dinner.

I have a sister we called "Dingo" (real name Kim), and another we called called smelly-nelly ahh we aussies can be so cruel sometimes..

It is avery common Australian thing. my surname is Montgomery so I went through high school as Rommel. When i left i called casper as i had blond hair and was considered friendly. my boss was karol chlebowski and he was just referred to as k alphabet. Another mate was called SFB short for Shit For Brains -even his mother ended up calling him that. his girlfriend was Jenny Juicy Joints or "triple J" before the radio station started..
