Anyone know where to buy a good electronic translator? One that outputs pin ying as well as speaks. I read that it is best to buy one outside of China as the ones here are for Chinese learning English. Can someone give me a make, model and location to buy? Perhaps in Macao of HK.
Thanks

I have a Franklin Model
I have a Franklin Model #TGA-490. It translates words and several thousand pre-defined phrases. It translates 12 languages including Chinese and Portuguese. If you enter English it gives you the pinyin and Chinese character. If you enter pinyin it gives you the Chinese character and its English translation. It is a pretty decent tool. The only drawback I can see (no pun intended) is that the display is not very bright. I paid a couple of hundred US$ for it back in the states. I bought it on Amazon.com.
It is also an MP3 player,

The Lingo Pacifica Talk is very useful. Has Pin yin and Hanyu, speaks and has other useful features. I carry it when ever I go to China. When I fail to communicate using my basic Mandarin, I often just show the word to the other party. It is small enough to carry. Cost about $180 on Ebay
