I love Dalian

Have you ever been to Dalian? It is a lovely place in the Northeast of China, in Liaoning province. This is the city, where I fell in love with China. The city, which I want to visit again and again.
What makes me love it so much? I can't even give the exact answer. People, food, islands, parks...
There's the biggest square( Xinghai) in Asia. At night you can get a motorbike( taxi) and drive as fast as they can.
The sea isn't really clean in the city, but early morning is a good time for swimming. You can get a boat to get to islands.
I miss Moslem meat pies i used to buy! Why don't we have them here?
Dalian is a good place for family holidays, especially with children. Ocean Park with polar animals, fish, Oceanarium with the longest tunnel in Asia,Tiger's Park, Seashell Museum, Waterpark...
Welcome to Dalian!

I had deep fried scorpions
I had deep fried scorpions on rice in Xinjiang but they weren't as big as the 'monsters' in your pic - they tasted crunchy and oily; no soft stuff; all carapase.
The ones in your picture could probably be a little "squishy!" he he.
I lived in Dalian for three months, never got to see anything other then the old Russian sektor (fantastic); the oil cargo ship docks; a sheep waiting outside a reataurant - the main evening meal of the night; giant larvae in tubs of water; a trip by bus to Hei Si Tou (loved it!); and, the inside of a few very small, hole in the wall, bars.
I loved the place!
Oh! I almost forgot, there was that late night walk along a street that had one hundred meters of building dedicated to preparing dog as a food item. Nothing of interest sight-wise, rusiian expat pub on an opposite corner at the end of the street, but the sounds! Well, I'm sure you can imagine.
Did you know, that on the outskirts of Dalian, there is a processing factory where they prepare anatomical models for medical study and artistic exhibition?
They use a plastination method made famous, internationally by Gunther "Dr Todd" Von Hagen, creator of the "BODYWORKS" Sculpturedermy exhibit (Taxidermay and Sculpture: using real human remains.)
A little bit gruseome, but a highly facinating exhibition. I've seen a smaller, similar exhibit, conducted by Chinese experts, in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. Great stuff!
Dalian - a city of contrasts!
