I am gonna be crazy! The more exercise I do, the more desperate I feel! How can people get high scores?! That's a big question to me! Maybe I can go and ask somebaby! I mean the civil servant test(is it used right? gongwuyuan kaoshi!)

I don't get it...:)

"exercise" here means paper

"exercise" here means paper work, exam question, not sports.
"government officer" may be easier to understand.

Good luck Suhua. If you succeed, please be a kind civil servant!!!

If the examination is based

If the examination is based on knowledge and merit, then the social position and 'better university' issues should not make any difference as long as you have studied what needs to be studied.

If guanxi counts more than performance on the examination then perhaps spending your time (doing lots of exercises) could be a waste of valuable 'relationship-building' opportunities.

De-stress; sometimes the biggest pressure comes from our own desire to succeed and not from the surrounding circumstances. Consider the other people in the race, of course, but then consider why you are better than them for this position.

With your exercises, 'work smarter not harder.' This means, target a set of exercises. Spend 50 min working on them then take a 10 min break. Stretch, jump some rope, drink a fresh fruit juice or vegetable juice, meditate on something pretty. Then change the group of exercises to something different and repeat. After two sets eat a snack.

Avoid starchy foods for lunch, eat dark green vegetables, nuts, mushrooms and perhaps some fish, so as to give you more energy and increase alertness in the afternoon.

Avoid heavy 'red meat' dishes in the evening if you want to keep awake and improve your mental awareness. Do some strongly active physical exercise to increase blood flow and gain a quick mental wake-up call. Drink lots of water or caffeine-free tea, that is, 'Hydrate regularly.'

Starchy foods make us feel full and sleepy. Meat takes a long time to digest and take energy from our body's other activities to do so - 'don't swim after a big meal'. Sugars give a quick energy boost but later cause us to mentally and emotionally crash later when the sugar high passes. caffeine can make us feel 'awake' in small amounts but in larger doses causes rapid heart rates resulting in increased anxiety.

Lastly, ... good luck, be confident and believe that you are the best person for the position.

regards,
T. Tempest. DCA
