Trademarks touted

THE municipal Administration for Industry & Commerce has nominated 20 local trademarks as candidates for 2008 Provincial Famous Trademarks and two as Well-Known Trademarks. Efforts will be made to foster agricultural trademarks such as “Hengqin Oyster,” “Baijiao Sea Bass” and “Xiangyinong Organic Rice” this year.
Nearly 200 printer consumables manufacturers with 40,000 employees and annual output value exceeding 10 billion yuan ($1.43 billion) are registered in the city. Most of them, however, don’t have their own self-branded trademarks such as Ninestar Image and Gree Magneto-Electric. In response, the administration will help businesses without trademarks to apply for them and encourage those who own trademarks to enhance competitiveness by making them famous.
