AN art exhibition titled “Re-Read Russia -- Artworks of Graduates From Repin Academy of Fine Arts and Chinese Touring Artist Wu Shiping” has opened at Gu Yuan Museum of Art on West Meihua Road, New Xiangzhou, and will run through May 8. Nearly 150 oil paintings and 36 sketches, mini-oil paintings and drawings from nature by 38 artists are being shown, the largest Russian oil painting exhibition since Zhuhai City was founded nearly three decades ago.
Apart from artwork of the young generation in Russia, one can also enjoy oil paintings by older artists including “National Artists of Russia” such as Ivan Warichev, Nikolay Repin and “Honoured Artist of Russia” Edvard Ya Vyrzhikovskiy.
Wu once studied at the Repin Academy of Fine Arts and works as a touring artist in St Petersburg at the invitation of the city’s artists federation.
