AN art exhibition of 115 prints by17 graduates from the China Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) Printmaking Department titled “Legacy Inherited -- Gu Yuan’s Student Art Exhibition” opened last Tuesday at the Gu Yuan Museum of Art on West Meihua Road, New Xiangzhou. The exhibition will run through June.
Deeply rooted in the Chinese printmaking tradition, CAFA Printmaking takes the academic lead in running this programme. Gu Yuan, former CAFA president and a professor in the department, contributed immensely to setting the trend of teaching the art.
All graduates coming from Beijing, Tianjin, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Xinjiang, Guangdong and other areas, used to be Gu Yuan’s students. The exhibition features black-and-white print, woodblock print, watercolor block printing, rubber-plate printing, colored etchings, bookplates and so on.
