Medical incinerator set

ZHUHAI’S first medical waste incineration plant, with a total investment of 29.6 million yuan ($4.33 million), 16.32 million yuan ($2.39 million) for the first phase and 10.57 million yuan ($1.55 million) for the second, is expected to undergo construction near the Trash Burning Power Plant at Xikengwei in Shangchong, Qianshan next year.
Covering 3,303sqm, the facility will apply imported advanced incineration technologies, which allow very strict treatment of things that are burned, according to a spokesperson.
More than 400 hospitals and clinics citywide generate four tonnes of medical waste everyday. The waste is sent to be blended and treated with household garbage at the trash burning power plant in Shangchong. Classified door-to-door collection of medical waste and delivery in a closed-transport vehicle will be implemented upon completion of the plant.
The environmental impact assessment study report has just been finished by Sun Yat-sen University and will be submitted to provincial environmental protection authorities for approval, the spokesperson said.
