THE 103rd China Import & Export Fair, also known as 2008 Canton Fair, Phase I closed on April 18 after recording export agreements worth $347 million for the Zhuhai Business Delegation, a rise of 27 per cent from the same period last year. Of the exports, 32 per cent worth $113 million went to Europe, 31.8 per cent exceeding $110 million to Asia, 18.4 per cent hitting $64 million to America and 15.2 per cent reaching $53 million to the Middle East.
Home and electric appliances, consumer electronic products and electrical products dominated in exports exceeding 80 per cent. For example, Gree air conditioner series accounted for 23 per cent of total exports reaching $80.1 million, Jinpin TV set series accounted for 19.6 per cent at $68 million, and Satow electronic monitor series accounted for 7 per cent at $24 million.
A number of self-developed copyright products such as a high-performance solar energy emergency lamp developed by Vigex International Ltd, red porcelain electric rice cookers produced by Double Happiness Group, seawater reverse-osmosis desalination system by Geling Industrial Co Ltd and others were best sellers even with prices 10 per cent higher. The Gree household multi-connected air conditioning unit with cooling and heating functions that provides daily hot water out of the steam in the cooling process was most popular with European and American dealers.
However, exports of textiles, garments and shoes and hats dropped by 25 per cent, the delegation head noted.
