Airshow China fruitful

THE 7th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition, also known as Airshow China, concluded last Sunday with deals signed for 102 aircraft, the organizer said. More than 290,000 visitors and nearly 600 aviation and aerospace businesses from 35 countries and territories with more than 60 aircraft on display were registered at the show, the largest ever.
Some $4 billion in deals concerning 16 projects were signed. Among them, Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC) will sell 25 ARJ21-700 regional jets valued at 5 billion yuan ($733 million) to GE Commercial Aviation Services of the US. The first jet will be delivered in 2013, with one per month thereafter.
COMAC Board Chairman Zhang Qingwei said it is the first time for Chinese-developed and manufactured regional jets to enter a Western airline market.
Some 640,000 visitors spent 375 million yuan ($54.9 million) during the six-day air show, a 7 per cent rise from the previous one. Some 230,000 overnight visitors were recorded with the room occupancy rate hitting 81 per cent, up 15 per cent and one percentage point respectively.

$60 million in deals
ZHUHAI yielded deals worth 410 million yuan ($60 million) at the 5th Economic & Technical Co-operation Fair Between the Pearl River Delta Region and the mountainous area, plus the east and west sides of Guangdong, which opened in Zhanjiang on Thursday. Gov Huang Huahua and other senior provincial officials were at the opening ceremony and visited the Zhuhai Delegation booth.
Initiated in 2000, the biennial fair is meant to boost economic development in the northern mountainous areas and east and west wings. Around 10,000 businesspeople from 43 delegations from around the province and more than 30 businesses from Hong Kong and Macao participated.
Zhuhai brought 17 projects for investment, a spokesperson said.
