National Day holiday events slated

TOURIST attractions such as the New Yuanming Palace, Wulingyuan Kung Fu Theme Park, Crocodile Island, Meixi Royal Stone Archways and Ocean Spring Resort have slated a variety of entertainment for the National Day Holiday Golden Week, October 1-7.

Beach Party
The 2007 Zhuhai Love & Share Beach Party, with You Xiaogang, an A-Level national director and famous producer, will serve as general director.

The stage of the beach party will feature multi-level positions especially for DJ, dance leaders and singers. Hi-tech-based illuminations, large sound systems and installation art facilities will provide a titillating background to delight participants.

Having an area of 320sqm and height of 1.8m, the stage connecting a T-shaped platform will be highlighted through design, lighting, lasers, large projection screens, cold fireworks and other visual effects. A group of installation art units will be generated by music or lighting.

Pearl Land
More than 30 amusement activities including the exciting roller coaster, the newly added stunning Challenger’s Journey and Speed Windmill and many traditional amusements will surely bring children fun and adults back to their childhood.

New Yuanming Palace
An imperial comedy, Namu Selecting Groom, and real-scene show, Great Qing Sea Battle, and song-and-dance epic show, Great Qing Empire, Royal Court Gourmet Festival featuring various royal palace dishes and snacks, Zhao Shutong Shadow Puppet Exhibition and Shadow Puppet Play Wusong Fights the Tiger will be available at the New Yuanming Palace during the National Day Golden Week. Namu Yang, born in the remote reaches of the Himalayas, is the first to leave the Moso ethnic group, a matriarchal society near Burma. She tells the story of her childhood in the widely acclaimed memoir, Leaving Mother Lake, co-authored with Christine Mathieu.

To be served as a sub-site of the beach party, the Lost City Water Park will delight visitors with a song-and-dance show and mixology show.

Meixi Royal Stone Archways
Sichuan tea-pouring Kung Fu Style Show and Sichuan Opera Changing Face Show, Anonymous Collector’s Private Collectables Exhibition are scheduled at the Meixi Royal Stone Archways. Invaluable treasures of ceramics, bronze, jade and other state-level cultural relics will be on display.

Ocean Spring Resort
Caribbean Revel Music Party on Treasure Land, Moving Coast Concert at Ocean Spring Resort, Mediterranean Music & Customs Show at the Fishing Marina and The Netherlands Gourmet at Ocean Spring Resort Hotel will prevail during the Golden Week.

The Caribbean Beach of the resort will serve as a sub-site of the Zhuhai Love & Share Beach Party to respond to the main site at Haibin Beach in Jida. The daytime music show will feature Scottish, Egyptian, Hawaiian, Latin, plateau and snow world music at the beach while the nighttime Beach Party will focus on a popular song and dance, alien music and dance show, young girls chorus, original pop music, campus ballads, rock 'n roll, rave dance spree and others.

One can take an Ocean Spring Resort shuttle bus at bus depots in Gongbei and Xiangzhou and Jiuzhou Ferry Terminal or the 608 bus in Gongbei.

Wulingyuan Kung Fu Theme Park
Five theme sections, including Drunken Jianghu in which the Drunken Wu Song beats innkeeper Jiang Menshen, and Police Tiger Fight 110 will be staged. Others are Fortune Jianghu at which one can pray to Lord Guan or Guan Gong for good fortune or impetrate a holy tree for blessings, Kung Fu Jianghu in which Shaolin Kung Fu will be performed, Xiaoyao Jianghu where one can visit Peach Flower Island, Xiaoyao Lake, Mulan Park, Qingfeng Hill and other picturesque areas, and Men & Women Jianghu where a woman selects her groom through a Kung Fu contest or the hero saves the beauty will be reproduced and a grand show, Kung Fu Legend, which has just won an award at the Chinese Culture Festival in Nepal.

Crocodile Island
Located in Baileng Lake Tourist City, Crocodile Island or “crocodile family” has nearly 1,000 Yangtze crocodiles, Thai crocodiles, Malaysian crocodiles and cross-bread crocodiles in addition to ostriches, bears, peacocks, monkeys, boa constrictors, camels and horses. Archaized canon, a watermill, water cycle and other instruments are ready for fun. Performances such as fighting crocodiles in the water, kissing, sleeping with or embracing a crocodile will also be offered.

Jingshan Cable Car and Slide
Boasting various-shaped rocks and a 3,000sqm sightseeing platform upon which one can taste fragrant tea on the peak, Jingshan Park allows you to have a bird’s-eye view of the bustling city, the Fisher Maiden and Lovers Avenue in the distance. You can reach the peak by cable car with breathtaking sight of the valley below and slide down the chute, a fast, exciting experience.

Wailingding Island
All scenic spots on the island have been beautified and entertainment such as beachside swimming, scuba diving, fishing, jet skiing, snorkeling, Banana Boat, beach volleyball, football and barbecue facilities await holidaymakers. At the same time, the freshest seafood will be delivered to all restaurants on the island. Tourists are expected to try scarce species such as urchins, gooseneck barnacles and small limpets.
